Product Description
IOTA 29161 is a mixture of ultra-high-viscosity dimethicone in low-viscosity cyclopentasiloxane, serving as an ideal alternative to Dow Corning XIAMETER™ PMX-1411. This non-cyclic polydimethylsiloxane blend is colorless, odorless, and non-toxic, showing excellent affinity for hair and skin. It forms a uniform silicone protective film and exhibits moderate volatility. When incorporated into formulations, it produces products with soft, smooth, and velvety sensory properties, making it an excellent material for hair care products and creams.

Properties and Applications
IOTA 29161 combines smooth sensory benefits with functional advantages of cyclic silicones. It provides low friction, moderate volatility (non-comedogenic), and excellent water repellency, significantly enhancing product gloss and texture. It leaves skin and hair feeling dry yet silky, moisturizes hair, enhances shine, and helps other active ingredients maintain longer efficacy on the skin.
It is widely used in conditioners, hair treatment creams, sunscreens, skincare creams, and hair styling products. Due to its moderate volatility, it is recommended to control the processing temperature below 50°C: melt the oil-phase components, allow the temperature to drop to approximately 50°C, then slowly add IOTA 29161 with thorough mixing, followed by incorporation of remaining ingredients. This product is compatible with oils, fragrances, pigments, and other oil-soluble cosmetic ingredients. For higher viscosity blends, cyclopentasiloxane can be used to dilute for easier handling and uniform dispersion.
Recommended usage levels:
Hair conditioners and related hair care products: 3–8%
Hair end oils and similar products: 40–50% to achieve optimal softening and shine enhancement
Packaging and Storage
1. Packaged in 190 kg iron drums or 950 kg IBC tank.
2. During storage and transportation, protect from moisture and prevent contamination from acids, bases, or other impurities.
3. This product is non-toxic and non-hazardous, suitable for general cargo transport.
4. Shelf life: 2 years
