Product Description
IOTA 1401 is a high-viscosity dimethiconol solution, consisting of a mixture of cyclotetrasiloxane and cyclopentasiloxane. A high proportion of dimethiconol ensures the long-lasting activity of the functional ingredients through physical interactions. The specially blended cyclic siloxanes prevent freezing while maintaining good product flow. It is an ideal alternative to Dow Corning XIAMETER™ PMX-1401, providing moisturizing, skin-conditioning, and hair-conditioning benefits.

 

This formulation improves the adhesion of active ingredients under water or soap wash conditions. When added to skincare products, it forms a durable, water-resistant film with excellent spreadability, delivering a soft, silky feel while reducing the sticky sensation of oil-rich formulas. For hair care, it nourishes hair, prevents split ends, and enhances both wet and dry combability, improving shine, softness, and sensory experience.

 

IOTA 1401 is easy to emulsify and can be blended with volatile silicones, mineral oils, and cosmetic esters, serving as a carrier for active ingredients such as UV filters. It is suitable for creams, lotions, cosmetics, sunscreens, self-tanning products, and hair care formulations.

Thanks to its long-lasting performance and unique sensory properties, IOTA 1401 is widely used in creams, lotions, color cosmetics, sunscreens, and self-tanning products. It is compatible with volatile silicones, mineral oils, and cosmetic esters, and can serve as an efficient carrier for active ingredients such as UV filters. In hair care, it smooths and softens hair while specifically improving split ends.

 

IOTA 1401 also significantly enhances the durability of other actives (e.g., UV filters, emollients, moisturizers) under water or soap wash conditions. When incorporated into skincare products, it forms a long-lasting, water-resistant protective film on the skin and can be used to formulate sunscreens with excellent spreadability and water resistance.

 

Formulation Recommendations

Emulsion-based products:

Can be added directly to the oil phase. If the oil phase is melted above 60°C, IOTA 1401 should be added after emulsification when the system temperature is below 50°C, using high-shear mixing to prevent high-temperature degradation.

Non-emulsion products:

It is recommended to slowly incorporate other cosmetic ingredients into IOTA 1401, rather than adding IOTA 1401 into other components, because the high molecular weight dimethiconol has limited compatibility. Incorrect addition sequence may lead to uneven dispersion or stability issues.

Proper formulation and process control allow IOTA 1401 to significantly enhance product feel, stability, and functionality.


Packaging and Storage

1. Packaged in 190 kg iron drums or 950 kg IBC tank.

2. Store in unopened original containers at 25°C or below, away from heat sources and open flames.

3. This product is non-toxic and non-hazardous for transport.
