USD 55 Million Specialty Silicone Project Launches in Zhuhai, Boosting Ethyl Silicone Oil Capacity

A significant milestone in China's specialty silicone industry was marked on April 10, 2026, as a USD 55 million (approximately RMB 400 million) high-end organosilicon project officially broke ground in the Zhuhai Economic and Technological Development Zone. The facility, spanning 84,600 square meters, is expected to generate annual output exceeding USD 110 million (RMB 800 million) upon full operation.

The project's product portfolio focuses on high-value specialty materials, including electronic-grade vinyl silicone oil, end-epoxy polyether silicone oil, and immersion cooling fluids. These products serve cutting-edge applications such as AI computing infrastructure, integrated circuits, new energy vehicles, and data centers.

This investment is part of a broader industry trend. Industry data indicates that over USD 700 million in new specialty silicone projects have been announced or initiated in China during the first quarter of 2026 alone, with ethyl silicone oil and vinyl silicone oil capacity expansions accounting for more than 60% of the total.

The expansion wave is driven by three key factors: diversifying application scenarios (from cosmetics to EV thermal management), technological breakthroughs (such as photo-thermal协同催化 polymerization), and the accelerating import substitution trend as domestic producers close the quality gap with international suppliers.

According to QYResearch, the global vinyl silicone oil market—closely related to ethyl silicone oil—reached approximately USD 1.418 billion in 2025 and is projected to grow to USD 1.847 billion by 2032, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.9%.

Industry analysts view this round of capacity expansion as qualitatively different from previous cycles, driven by technological innovation and industrial upgrading rather than simple capacity replication.
