Application of silicone oil in diffusion pump system
Tetramethyl tetraphenyl trisiloxane and trimethyl pentaphenyl trisiloxane, serving as diffusion pump oils, are capable of achieving extremely high vacuum levels ranging from 10-9 to 10-8 Pa. Thanks to the excellent heat resistance, thermal oxidation resistance, chemical stability, and non-corrosive characteristics of silicone oil, it exhibits significant advantages over traditional petroleum or fatty acid ester diffusion pump oils in terms of durability.
During the operation of the diffusion pump, even if the heater (450 watts) is not turned off after 15 minutes of operation, the performance of the silicone oil is not affected by the periodic operation of returning to normal pressure with air and maintaining it for 1 minute before continuing to operate.
Application of thermal carrier
Silicone oil has good thermal oxidation resistance, low vapor pressure, and high flash point, and can be used as a high-temperature bath and high-temperature heat carrier.
Dimethyl silicone oil can be used stably in air at temperatures below 175β for extended periods, while methyl phenyl silicone oil can be used at temperatures up to 200β for extended periods, making them ideal for high-temperature applications.
By adding specific heat-resistant additives to dimethyl silicone oil and methyl phenyl silicone oil, the applicable temperature range of silicone oil can be further improved. Such modified silicone oil can be used as a heat carrier for rubber continuous vulcanization equipment, plastic extrusion machines, petrochemical equipment, and heat collectors in solar energy systems, thereby expanding the use of silicone oil in industrial applications.
