As of early 2026, China's hydroxyl silicone oil industry has achieved steady growth driven by multiple favorable factors, with the industry accelerating its transition from scale expansion to quality-and-efficiency improvement. According to industry monitoring data, as of April 2026, mainstream quotations for domestic ordinary industrial-grade hydroxyl silicone oil (hydroxyl value ≥30 mg KOH/g, viscosity 500 mPa·s) are stable at 22,300 yuan/ton, while electronic-grade products are quoted at 35,800 yuan/ton, and medical-grade products exceed 41,200 yuan/ton, demonstrating significant premium advantages for high-end products. This price gradient reflects the accelerating evolution of the hydroxyl silicone oil market toward higher-end, more functional applications.
Twin Engines Drive Market Expansion
From the perspective of downstream application structure, the construction sealant sector remains the largest consumer market for hydroxyl silicone oil. As a core cross-linking component of room temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber, hydroxyl-terminated silicone oil, when used together with cross-linking agents and catalysts, can produce high-performance silicone structural sealants. These sealants, with their excellent adhesion, weather resistance, and anti-aging properties, are widely used in building curtain walls, windows and doors, roofs, and other building components, effectively enhancing waterproofing, thermal insulation, and soundproofing performance while extending building service life. The construction sealant sector accounted for 36.8% of hydroxyl silicone oil consumption in 2025, and with the accelerated advancement of urban renewal and village renovation projects, demand for engineering adhesives continues to be steadily released, driving sustained growth in demand for low-to-medium viscosity hydroxyl silicone oil.
The textile finishing sector represents another traditional advantage application area for hydroxyl silicone oil. Hydroxyl silicone oil emulsions can be classified into cationic and anionic types based on their main chain structure. Cationic hydroxyl silicone oil emulsions are primarily used as textile softeners because the positive charge they carry binds well with negatively charged fibers, allowing the polysiloxane adsorbed onto the fibers to fully exhibit its characteristics, resulting in exceptionally soft, smooth fabric hand feel while also imparting antistatic properties to the treated fabric. Anionic hydroxyl silicone oil emulsions have higher molecular weight and better stability, can be formulated with anionic resins and auxiliaries, reducing resin usage by 20%-50%, and after dilution are used for fabric softening treatment, forming a moderately cross-linked silicone film on the fabric surface that not only improves fabric hand feel but also enhances tear strength.
Emerging Application Scenarios Rapidly Rise
Notably, emerging applications such as electronic packaging and new energy vehicle battery adhesives are showing explosive growth, with their combined share jumping to 18.6% in 2025. Among these, demand for high-purity hydroxyl silicone oil in fields such as 5G base stations and power transformers has surged, with volume resistivity reaching over 10¹⁴Ω·cm and a temperature resistance range covering -50°C to 200°C, effectively solving the performance degradation issues of traditional insulating materials. In the electronics field, low-viscosity hydroxyl silicone oil can be used as an additive to enhance material hydrophobicity and water resistance, meeting waterproofing requirements in humid environments.
Future Outlook
Industry analysts point out that with continued demand release from high-end downstream sectors and green manufacturing policies driving enterprise upgrading, the hydroxyl silicone oil market will continue to expand steadily. Enterprises with high-end product production capacity and supply chain advantages will occupy dominant market positions, promoting the entire industry chain's transformation toward greening and high-end development.
