From Aviation Seals to AI Cooling, China's Fluorosilicone Industry Mounts a Coordinated "Breakthrough" Campaign
A high-profile industry conference in Zibo, Shandong Province, brought together over 150 representatives from semiconductor manufacturing, panel display, and terminal application sectors, marking a strategic mobilization for fluorosilicone material self-sufficiency.
The conference highlighted two critical application vectors. First, perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) seals are indispensable for semiconductor equipment exposed to aggressive plasma etching and CVD process gases. Second, fluorinated heat transfer fluids are emerging as the optimal cooling media for AI data centers, where traditional air cooling has reached its physical limits.
Industry leaders announced significant capacity expansions: perfluoroelastomer pilot facilities are already operational, with core monomer PMVE achieving mass production. Fluorinated heat transfer fluid projects targeting immersion cooling applications are also progressing rapidly, with planned annual capacities reaching thousands of tons.
A notable development is the shift from "product sales" to "service models." Material producers are forming strategic alliances with computing infrastructure providers to co-develop liquid cooling evaluation centers. This "material-application" collaboration model accelerates market adoption while reducing reliance on imported technologies.
The Zibo Gaoxin Fluorochemical Industrial Cluster reported 2025 output of 6.239 billion RMB, a 38.8% year-on-year increase. With complete supply chains from anhydrous hydrogen fluoride to specialty polymers and electronic gases, the region exemplifies the "chain development" strategy driving China's fluorosilicone industry forward.
Looking toward the "15th Five-Year Plan" period (2026-2030), demand from commercial aviation, 800V EV platforms, and semiconductor fabs will continue to drive fluorosilicone rubber market expansion.
