There are many varieties of silicone oil emulsion finishing agents, and the quality varies. There are cationic, anionic, nonionic types, etc., and there are many kinds such as modified amino silicone oil and linear silicone oil. Generally, when using silicone oil for soft finishing, the following points should be noted.
-
Control the dosage. For example, for amino silicone oil with a solid content of 20%, a dosage of 1.5-3% (O.W.F) is sufficient. Increasing the dosage cannot increase the softness.
-
Problem of setting speed. When factories process some thin fabrics (such as chiffon, imitation silk, voile), the setting speed is very fast, and sometimes it can reach a speed of 60 meters/minute. Due to poor permeability of ordinary silicone oil, the silicone oil flows back on the roller and is easy to cause roller adhesion. When using it, pay attention to changing the working fluid in the trough and cleaning the roller frequently.
-
Problem of sticking to the cylinder. When factories do impregnation softening, ordinary silicone oil will stick to the cylinder wall. After a long time, some black oil stains will form on the cylinder wall, and when they stick to the fabric, silicone oil stains will form.
-
Problem of agglomeration. For fabrics containing short fibers (such as cotton, viscose, and pile fabrics), some short fibers will inevitably fall off during the processing. The short fibers falling from the cloth accumulate in the trough and adhere to ordinary silicone oil. As the finishing liquid rises to the roller, it sticks together with the squeezed and demulsified silicone oil, which is easy to form roller adhesion or silicone spots. Do a good job of cleaning before driving. If loose fibers are found, clean them up in time.
-
Problem of hand feeling. Since the market's requirements for fabric hand feeling are getting higher and higher, and various fabrics need to show various different style requirements due to different seasons and different customer requirements, such as smooth and drapey, smooth and lively, fluffy and soft, pure elasticity, and so on. One kind of silicone oil can generally only reflect one style. Therefore, many factories need to use many kinds of silicone oils, resulting in production chaos. Sometimes, if a silicone oil that meets customer requirements cannot be found, the business can only be given up, resulting in losses. We can synthesize silicone oils with different amino values, viscosities and reactions by selecting silicone oils with different amino values and different types and controlling the molecular weight and molecular distribution to meet the requirements of various fibers in terms of softness, smoothness and elasticity.
-
Problem of concentration. Do not pour high-concentration amino silicone oil emulsion with a solid content of more than 20% directly onto the running fabric. Dilute the amino silicone oil in advance and pour it into the container, stir evenly and then add it to prevent rapid adsorption and cause silicone oil spots.
-
Problem of temperature. The use temperature is preferably 30-40°C, and generally should not exceed 50-60°C. Although the temperature has no obvious effect on the softness and smoothness of the hand feeling, when the temperature is too high, the elasticity changes greatly, and amino silicone oil is easy to cause roller adhesion and demulsification.
-
Problem of pH value. When impregnating or padding the working fluid, the pH value should be controlled at about 5.5-6, which is beneficial to improve the softness, drapability and elasticity of the fabric hand feeling.
-
Problem of use time. Silicone oil emulsion will cause roller adhesion after a long time of use. Especially for those of poor quality, even crusts may form on the roller, affecting driving. Strengthen cleaning. Generally, degreasers or cleaning agents can be used and scrubbed on the roller after being dissolved in a certain proportion.
