I. Characteristics

Fluorosilicone rubber is a new material developed on the basis of organic fluorine and organic silicon materials. It combines the excellent properties of organic silicon materials such as high and low temperature resistance and environmental aging resistance with the excellent properties of organic fluorine materials such as oil resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, showing a variety of unique physical and chemical characteristics:
  1. High and low temperature resistance:
Fluorosilicone rubber has excellent high and low temperature resistance and can maintain elasticity within a wide temperature range of -68°C to 232°C. This enables it to maintain stable performance under extreme environmental conditions and is not affected by significant temperature changes.
  2. Oil and chemical corrosion resistance:
Fluorosilicone rubber shows good stability to aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents, as well as various petroleum-based fuel oils, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils and some synthetic oils (such as diester lubricating oils, silicate ester hydraulic oils, etc.). It can maintain its elasticity under both high temperature and normal temperature conditions. Its oil and solvent resistance is even better than that of ordinary silicone rubber and fluororubber, and it can effectively resist the erosion of various oils and chemicals.
  3. Environmental aging resistance:
The weather aging resistance of fluorosilicone rubber is very excellent. Even if it is exposed for a long time under harsh environmental conditions, it can maintain the stability of its physical and chemical properties and can work stably in a complex climate environment for a long time.
  4. Radiation resistance:
Although the radiation source resistance characteristic of fluorosilicone rubber is not outstanding, its radiation aging resistance is better than that of methyl vinyl silicone rubber. This advantage makes it have application value in occasions that need to withstand radiation environments and can meet the use requirements in specific radiation environments.
  5. Low surface energy:
Due to the introduction of fluorine atoms, fluorosilicone rubber has a low surface energy. This helps to improve its compatibility and lubricity with other materials and can play a better role when used in combination with other materials.
  6. Other properties:
Fluorosilicone rubber also has good electrical properties, mildew resistance, physiological inertness, anticoagulant properties and other characteristics. These characteristics make it widely used in multiple fields and provide more possibilities for its use in different scenarios.

II. Applications

Due to its excellent performance characteristics, fluorosilicone rubber has been widely used in multiple fields:
  1. Aviation industry:
In the aviation industry, fluorosilicone rubber is mainly used to manufacture sealing products such as O-rings, gaskets, and sealing rings that are resistant to fuel oil, lubricating oil, and hydraulic oil. These sealing products are crucial for ensuring the normal operation of aviation equipment. In addition, it is also used for the overall sealing of aircraft fuel tanks to ensure flight safety and prevent safety hazards such as fuel leakage.
  2. Automobile industry:
In the automobile industry, fluorosilicone rubber is used to manufacture components such as turbocharger pipes, sealing rings, oil seals, diaphragms, conduits, and valve linings for various vehicles. With the development of automobiles towards high performance, low consumption, and low emissions, the application of fluorosilicone rubber in automobile manufacturing will be more extensive, helping to improve the performance and reliability of automobile components.
  3. Healthcare industry:
Due to its characteristics of being non-toxic, odorless, and having good biocompatibility, fluorosilicone rubber is also used in the healthcare field. It is used to manufacture medical devices and artificial organs such as medicinal catheters, drainage tubes, and artificial heart valves, and can better contact with human tissues and reduce adverse reactions.
  4. Military industry:
In the military industry, fluorosilicone rubber is used in harsh environments that require low temperature resistance, oil resistance, and acid resistance, such as infusion bellows for hydraulic systems of military aircraft and door and rear cover seals for special vehicles. When military equipment faces complex and harsh environments, fluorosilicone rubber can ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
  5. Other fields:
In addition, fluorosilicone rubber is also widely used in fields such as power, electronics and electrical appliances, textiles, machinery, and construction to manufacture various sealing parts, insulating parts, and corrosion-resistant materials. In these fields, fluorosilicone rubber plays an important role and meets different performance requirements.
